Looking for Me – Paul Woolford, Diplo & Kareen Lomax
Electricity (feat. Diplo & Mark Ronson) – a beat that feels decade-less perfected by two greats and one prodigy. Gives me a Chase & Status feel
Tim Bergling as many of you might know him by his stage name, Avicii, was one of the greatest Swedish musicians and DJs this world has known. It has been a little over a week since he passed away and many people are having an extremely difficult time coping without him. Avicii was destined to become a star ever since he released his first song at the age of 16 and later signed to Universal Music Group. He traveled the world playing show after show and broke many dance music standards with his renowned crossover hits. I was lucky enough to see him at Barclays in 2014 and it was one of the best nights of my life, no exaggeration.
I will never forget the first time I heard “Fade into Darkness” which is the song I credit for sparking my love for EDM. It is also the first song I learned on the piano because the melody is extremely uplifting and I knew I had to play it the minute I heard it. Avicii was one of the artists that inspired me to start making music on FL Studio since he used it for many of his initial songs.
I can not picture a world where another Avicii song will not be released, but I know he has left behind so many legendary hits. His family released a statement earlier this week that his death was a result of a suicide. Although they stated he struggled with thoughts about “Meaning, Life, and Happiness” he brought happiness and purpose to many other people’s life. Avicii’s contribution to the music scene will always be remembered and he will forever be in our hearts.
Below are some of my favorite Avicii songs. Also look out for the track “Heaven (feat. Chris Martin)” which I hope will be released soon 🙂
